The Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech, has published a statement in which he asks for forgiveness for physical and psychological abuse of children at Lourdes Home in Ghajnsielem run by the Dominican Sisters.

Allegations of abuse had been under investigation for almost two years now and a Commission appointed by Mgr Grech himself on April 24th 2006,  has now concluded that in some cases there has been “inadmissible behaviour involving minors”.

The statement reveals that he has already appointed a team of professionals to help the victims of these cases in the healing process. “I have to show my sorrow for all that was of detriment to these children. I ask forgiveness from those who have suffered because of this behaviour. The Church wants to accompany these persons who were hurt by this behaviour. I have already appointed a team of experts who will accompany these persons in this healing process. I have already made contacts with the persons involved and will be closely following this process.” the bishop says.
