A boat carrying illegal immigrants has been intercepted in Maltese territorial waters after a fisherman reported the sighting.

The Armed Forces of Malta are escorting the boat, believed to be carrying between 24 to 30 migrants, to Haywharf, the Times reported.

The boat was first reported on Tuesday night around 28 miles south west of Malta, said the Times.
