2,127 patients in waiting list for knee replacement

A total of 2127 are in the Mater Dei waiting list for a knee replacement operation whilst another 1,035 are waiting for a hip replacement operation.

This was revealed by Social Policy Minister John Dalli following a parliamentary question by Labour parliamentarian Jean Pierre Farrugia on Wednesday evening.

Dalli himself has in the recent weeks described the situation with the hospital waiting lists as scandalous saying that it was unacceptable that someone should wait up to five years for an operation.
