Early on Sunday morning at around 03:00CET the police were informed that the corpse of a man had been found at sea. It was indicated that the man was probably one of the fishermen reported missing from the fishing vessel “Simshar”.

The lifeless body was identified to be that of Abdulrahman Abdala Gedi, the 21-year-old Somali that was on the Simshar.

The autopsy will be carried out on Monday morning.

Thus, the only missing person is the 11-year-old Theo Bugeja, son of Simon the owner of the Simshar.

The “Simshar” was reported overdue by relatives. The vessel had five persons onboard, and had left Malta on Monday July 7th. The 12-metre vessel was expected back to port that following Friday evening and had onboard its owner Simon Bugeja, his 11-year-old son Theo and his father Carmelo, Noel Carabott and a Somali national Abdulrahman Abdala Gedi.

Simon Bugeja so far is the only survivor. The search for 11-year-old Theo continues.
