Two rare Black Storks were shot down in Mizieb over the shooting range of the Hunters Federation, FKNK, in the early hours on Wednesday.  Another stork is believed to have been shot in Rabat.

The incidents were reported by the German Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS).

Since the flock of storks were first observed crossing over Gozo towards Malta, members of CABS have kept watch on them.  Some of them even spent the night watching over the roosting place and witnessed the shooting.

It is believed members of CABS and of the Police are trying to identify the culprits.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, the OPM asked the police commissioner to investigate allegations of abuse and law infringement following allegations both by CABS members and also by the Federation of Hunters.
