Archbishop calls for unmarried couples' legislation

Malta’s new Archbishop Paul Cremona has called on the government to legislate and safeguard the civil rights of unmarried persons residing together. The Archbishop said that the government is to secure legislations so that nobody loses out on his or her rights.

unmarried coupleSpeaking on Net Television’s “Doksa” on Thursday evening Mgr. Paul Cremona also explained pointed out how women are to have the right to work and build a career as part of one of the benefits females can reap from today’s society.

 

With regards to a recent divorce survey which indicates that 45% of Maltese persons are in favour of the issue, Mgr. Paul Cremona said that the Catholic Church will continue to forward the idea that marriage cannot be dissolved.

During the programme, the Archbishop also made reference to the complimentary roles of males and females in married life as well as in raising their offspring.
