Construction works have started at the
Helsinki Arena which will host
Eurovision Song Contest
participants including
MaltaSong Festival winner Olivia Lewis.
Before
the actual stage construction can start, the main frame work for hundreds of
lights is being assembled. "The arena floor starts to get crowded already.
Therefore, we unload all the moving lights on the third floor, where they are
getting prepared, and then we bring them down in the order we will hang
them," Ola Melzig, project leader of Spectra Stage & Event Technologies
told Eurovision.tv.
In the upcoming 15 days, all light, sound
and stage equipment will be delivered, implemented and tested to be fully
prepared for the rehearsals. The first rehearsals for the Semi-Final are
scheduled for 3rd May.
The semi-final, in which Olivia Lewis will participate
with Vertigo, takes place on 10th May. If she makes it into the final night she
will also perform on the 12th May.
