Olivia Lewis’ first rehearsal for her Eurovision Song Contest entry Vertigo was held on Friday. The singer took to the stage at Helsinki Arena, Finland at around 1230CET, where she rehearsed the song for 45 minutes.
Olivia was flanked by violinist Joseph Chetcuti and gong-playing dancer Jes. Behind them, three female backing singers, two from Sweden and one from Finland, performed a routine with large fans.
Mark Vassallo from Maltese TV production house Where's Everybody? who directed the promotional video for Vertigo supervised the rehearsal. He is now serving as the Maltese delegation's liaison to the YLE television crew, who are responsible for this year's Eurovision broadcasts from Helsinki.
Half the semi-finalists for this year’s Eurovision were scheduled for Friday’s rehearsals, following yesterday's rehearsals for the other half. A second rehearsal for the Maltese song will be held on Sunday afternoon.
With reference to the press conference which followed the rehearsal, MaltaMedia’s founder and creative director Toni Sant said “Although the questions asked were predictable, the Maltese delegation was considered in its answers and Olivia was very natural in her replies.”
MaltaMedia.com will report live from Finland during Eurovision week with Toni Sant present at the Helsinki Arena.
