An online petition is calling on the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to reveal the results of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 back-up juries for both the semi-final and final rounds.

The petition makes the call so the public can judge if the results are similar to those of the televoting and see whether political and block voting had an effect on the contest’s results.

The result of this year’s contest stirred controversy and allegations of political and block voting in a number of countries. Some fans in Malta also blamed the outcome of the festivals’ results on these factors.

Additionally, two-thirds of respondents who took part in an online poll on The Malta Independent asserted that Malta should not continue to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. Commentators described the contest as a “farce”, “a big joke”, “a stupid contest” and a “waste of money”.

After Malta’s failure to make it to this year’s final in Helsinki with Olivia Lewis’ Vertigo, only 33.5% of respondents said that Malta should continue participating.
