With a few more days to go for the Malta Song for Europe 2007, Eurovision fever has well and truly gripped the island of Malta once again. Earlier this week, the first half of the running order for Thursday's semi final took their turn to rehearse on stage, esctoday.com reported. On Tuesday, a further seven singers rehearsed their performance.

The Eurovision Song Contest is, annually, the most watched programme on Maltese television, and this year, the national selection has stepped up a gear with a new larger venue. This year’s Malta Song for Europe will be held at the new conference centre in Ta' Qali, with singer J. Anvil and television host Stephanie Spiteri presenting both the semi-final and final rounds, to be held on the 1st and 3rd of February respectively.

This year it seems that the level of organisation is very high, especially when compared to previous years, esctoday.com said. The staging is also impressive, with a fully functioning modern stage with an up-to-date digital set.

A semi final will be held from which six songs will qualify to the Go Mobile Malta Song for Europe 2007 final on Saturday night. The semi final winners will be decided by 50% televoting and 50% special jury. The final winner on Saturday will be decided by 100% televoting.

Kevin Borg sang ‘Whenever’. Tarcisio Barbara sang ‘Places To Go’. Claudia Faniello performed her song ‘L-Imhabba Ghamja’. Rosman Pace with ‘Rollercoaster Ride’, Julia Grima with ‘Ice Queen’, William Mangion with ‘Forever Mine’ and Olivia Lewis with ‘Vertigo’ took their turn to rehearse their respective song on Monday.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, a further seven singers rehearsed their performance. These were Klinsmann Coleiro with 'She gives me Wings', Julie Pomorsky 'Look at me', Daniela Delicata with 'Little Islands in Your Heart', Pamela perforemd 'All about a life', SCAR with 'As Long as You Know', Isabelle sang 'My love', while Mauro Kitcher performed his song 'Unite'.

esctoday.com reported that whilst everything connected to the stage and performances ran smoothly, there are still some minor technical hitches with the press centre internet connections.

Many are eagerly awaiting the Song for Europe final on the 3rd of February. Audio clips of this year’s 16 Malta Song for Europe songs are available on the MaltaMedia Online Network’s Eurovision website. The audio clips can be previewed here.
