The Malta Song for Europe 2008 will probably be held about a month earlier than expected due to a probable February election, escmalta.com revealed.

The semifinal and the final, originally scheduled for the 21st and 23rd of February, might actually be held on the 24th and 26th of January.

Meanwhile, the second live-phase is said to be held between 9th and 12th January when the 36 songs will be reduced to the final 16 songs.

Escmalta.com reported a spokesman of the Maltasong saying that some practical issues need to be finalised but these dates are 'more then likely to be the final new dates'.

An official confirmation will be issued in due course.
