Toni Sant's Mużika Mod Ieħor 2007 Listeners' Picks poll is open for votes. This year, an exclusive application has been developed by James Attard for Facebook to ensure that voting is more fair and visible. All Facebook users can vote and can invite their friends to do the same.
Sant produces the podcast called Mużika Mod Iehor featuring music by performers in or from Malta , every weekend.
Speaking about the MMI 2007 poll MaltaMedia Creative Director Toni Sant said, "It gives me great satisfaction to say that the poll does not involve some convoluted jury nor is there any money making scheme from SMS voting. Taking full advantage of the power of the Internet we've placed the emphasis on the people who really matter to any musician: the listeners, or, to call them by their proper name, the fans."
There are five categories this year namely Online Music Videos, Albums, Singles/EPs, Internet Releases and the Maltese Based Overseas categories.
The total number of titles nominated this year is 112, with 26 albums, 22 online releases, 19 overseas-based, 13 videos, and 32 singles/EPs. Nominations were gathered between September 14 and November 26, based mostly on tracks played on Toni Sant's weekly podcasts.
Currently, Scream Daisy top both the Top Albums category as well as the Top Online Video Releases 2007 with Pretty. Ira Losco is hot on their heels in the albums list with her CD Fortune Teller, while Winter Moods are edging up with their video for 'Marigold'.
Voting via Facebook until Friday 4th January 2008. The winners will be featured in a special podcast by Toni Sant on Saturday 5th January 2008.
