Malta's 2008 Eurovision Song Contest participant Morena arrived in Malta from Belgrade, Serbia on Sunday afternoon. She was greeted by her fans and relatives.

Following the failure to make it through Thursday's semi-final, this was the second time that Malta was absent from the Eurovision final since 1991 when Malta returned to the Eurovision after a sixteen year absence.

Meanwhile, Malta placed 14th out of the 19 participants on Thursday’s second semi-final.

Saturday's final saw Russia’s Dima Bilan winning with his song Believe for which he garnered 272 points.

Malta received 38 points on Thursday. These were given by nine countries as follows: Iceland (3 points), UK (2 points), Denmark (4 points), Portugal (4 points), Croatia (4 points), Latvia (4 points), Albania (8 points), Bulgaria (3 points) and the Czech Republic (6 points).
