Tenor Nick Agius Darmanin is producing an evening of light and romantic classical music in order to raise funds to further his studies in London.
Entitled
A Night of Romantic Songs and Arias, the evening will be held at the St James' Cavalier Music Room on Augst 29 and 30 at 2100 CEST.
Nick is now the first Maltese to land a place at the coveted Royal College of Music in London to pursue his studies in Postgraduate Vocal Performance where big names such as, Joan Sutherland, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Benjamin Britten have studied.
The recital will be accompanied by Elizabeth Leonardi, also featuring Christine Barbara and shall consist of various light and romantic sonds and arias by composers such as Handel, Tosti, Rossini, Schubert, Faure, Donizetti, and Britten.
Nick said, “The concert is adequate for people of all ages; I invite you to come and together we shall live through the different styles of different composers through the ages as well as to rekindle in you those romantic moments you may have once forgotten”.

Nick started piano lessons at the age of seven and currently holds his Royal Associated Board Grade 8 in piano performance as well as a Grade 8 in Vocal Performance certificates. At the age of 17, Nick discovered his passion for Classical singing and started his training with Soprano Gillian Zammit and was immediately cast in the Opera ‘Semele’ by Handel.
Since then Nick has performed in various musicals and small scale operas, playing roles such as the Prince in the pantomime ‘Cinderella’ (MADC), Tony in ‘West Side Story’ (Drama Troupe), Soloist singer in ‘Voices Extraordinaire’, Prince Tamino in ‘The Magic Flute’ (Manoel Theatre), Soloist singer in ‘Notturno’ a classical recital and also a Soloist singer at St. Catherine of Italy Church ‘Sound an Alarm’ a classical recital of Tenor Arias.
Nick has also attended several master classes with Denise Mulholland (Soprano), Jane Webster (Soprano) and has recently been coached by Mr. Nick Sears (Tenor) head of Vocal Studies at the Royal Collage of Music in London. Nick further aspires to obtain a place in the highly acclaimed Benjamin Britten Opera School at the RCM and in pursuance to that, a carrier as a Classical and Opera singer.
