On Wednesday, Malta's entry to the  2008 Eurovision Song Contest  took the stage at the Belgrade Arena for the first stage rehearsal. After the rehearsal, singer Morena gave a press conference flanked by members of the Maltese delegation.

Nine other semi-finalists participated in Wednesday's rehearsals, besides Malta; Latvia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Georgia, Hungary, Cyprus, FYR Macedonia and Portugal.

In a statement released prior to her departure to Belgrade on Tuesday, Morena thanked all her Maltese fans for supporting her participation in the contest.

On stage, Morena's singing was backed by Annabelle Debono and four Swedish male dancers wearing dark sunglasses.  Morena wore long high-healed boots decorated with what appear to be dozens of tiny mirrors, but little else from the actual outfit she will be wearing during semi-final night 2 on Thursday 22 May.

During the press conference at the Save Centre immediately after the rehearsal, Morena and the Maltese delegation seemed satisfied with the rehearsal. The singer confessed that taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest "is a dream come true" for her.

The Maltese delegation explained that the song is about a spy story rather than the popular alcoholic drink. Morena also answered questions about her first experience singing with professional dancers and her name, which is derived from the Spanish word for "the dark one".

It's Malta turn again to rehearse on the Belgrade Arena stage on Sunday morning. That rehearsal will also be followed by a press conference.
