New website www.artistswantit.com is set to be unveiled, bridging the gap between the business person and the penniless artist specialising in all forms of artistic expression, from literature to sculpture, graphic design to theatre.

Having an entrepreneurial attitude towards art is the key towards becoming successful artists. The website forms part of a project which aims to create the opportunity for young artists to be financially competent and ready to run their own business initiatives.

“This new project provides the instruction needed for artists to know their way around the markets and to increase their personal success skills. This is being done through a number of seminars tackling issues such as copyrighting, data protection, marketing, financial literacy programmes, business start-up opportunities and basic market economics,” said spokesperson Carl Grech.

The aim is for the website to act as a mini directory for artists wishing to promote themselves. It will include the contact details of various businesses and the portfolios of artists. A number of activities, including a showcase of the artists’ work, shall also be organised, aimed at promoting this project on a national level.

The project forms part of SIFE - a global non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries. The project will be eventually judged at competition, culminating in the SIFE World Cup.

The launch of Artists Wantit will take place at Q Bar, Valletta Waterfront on Tuesday at 1900 CET.
