As part of its campaign “For Diversity Against Discrimination”, the European Commission Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities is organising a cartoons competition in Malta.

Participating cartoons will highlight in a positive manner one or more of the following aspects: race and/or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, age, religion, and disability.

“For Diversity. Against Discrimination” is running a pan-European information campaign run by the Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Directorate General of the European Commission. Its aim is to combating discrimination on the grounds of race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, disability and sexual orientation.

The campaign "For Diversity. Against Discrimination." is designed to inform people about their rights under EU anti-discrimination legislation as well as promoting the positive benefits of diversity in the workplace.

Entries must be original cartoons tackling one or more of the above mentioned aspects. It is hoped that all cartoonists in Malta will submit their entries for this competition which is expected to be a most interesting and revealing showcase of cartoons concerning diversity and against discrimination.

Entries are to be handed in at BPC International Limited, 50, J Gasan Street, Pieta' by Wednesday 1st October 2008, between 8.00am and 4.00pm.  Entrants may submit a maximum of 5 artworks in colour or monochrome, out of which a selection panel will select the exhibits that will be presented to the public in autumn 2008.

The selection panel will also assign two prizes consisting of a Euro 700 cheque for the winner and a Euro 300 cheque for the second placed.
