This October Masquerade Theatre Arts School will be opening its doors to a growing number of students for the eleventh year.
This is a particularly special year for Masquerade as work on the school's new premises is well in progress. Works on the building in Msida started earlier this year and the stone-work is now up to street level.
Masquerade's new premises aims to enhance the quality of theatre arts education for teachers and students. The new premises (to open in the coming years) will include training and production studios and other specialised facilities.
The principal of Masquerade Theatre Arts School Anthony Bezzina stated today: “We have embarked on this new project because we strongly believe that specialised state of the art facilities are needed to keep improving the quality of theatre arts education in Malta”.
Mr Bezzina insists however that the school is much more than a building. “It is above all about creating a space where students feel free to explore their creativity. It is about collaboration between students, teachers and theatre professionals - a second home for all to meet and create artistic projects.”
Masquerade specialises in acting, singing and drama classes. The philosophy of the school is that through acting, singing and dancing students learn poise, confidence, and the ability to project themselves positively which helps them in all areas of life and in any job they choose to do in the future.
Apart from classes for children and teenagers, Masquerade has also opened its doors to adult students. Mr Bezzina confirmed that: “Apart from the parents who send their children to Masquerade, we have more and more of these parents and other adults joining after deciding that it's high time for them to do something new. It is so refreshing to see individuals from different backgrounds and professions coming together and networking. This further motivates us to ensure that the new premises will continue to contribute to the success of the school's projects.”
