Malta art exhibited in France, Canada, USA

Prizes totalling Lm 500 have been awarded for selected works of original art to be included in an exhibition about Malta's prehistoric Temple Culture.

Nearly 100 works were submitted by local artists in Malta and Gozo for a competition sponsored by The OTS Foundation of Florida, USA.   

Ten works were chosen by a panel of judges that included Prof. Anthony  Bonanno, Fr. Marius Zerafa, OTSF President Linda Eneix, and Josette Portelli.  

Winners whose work was selected are Sarah Buckle with "Shrine Alight", Deborah Cachia with "Golden History", Nicole Casha with "The Initiator",  Stephen Fenech with "The Morning Prayer", Andy Grech with "Greeting Mother Sun", Marion Grioli with "Moonlit", Joseph M. Micallef with "Gateway to Eternity", Louiselle Scibberas with "Prehistoric Art", Monica Spiteri with "Afterlife" and Noel Tabone with "Way Back in Ages". A special award was made to Mr. Gino Theuma for his innovative work with ceramic figures and photography.

The " Temple Culture" exhibition will tour cities in the USA and Canada  After being featured in Paris between the 15 and 31 July 2007 at the Centre Culture Christiane Peugeot 62 Avenue de la Grande Armee as part of the Malta International Art Biennale, directed by Dame Francoise Tempra.   It is currently being considered for temporary showing at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. in September.
