Nestlé Malta is Official Partner of the newly launched Malta
Exercise Health and Fitness Association, an association set up to encourage
people to lead a more active life.
Through its events, the Malta Exercise Health and Fitness
Association will seek to increase public awareness by acting as a lobby group
for the exercise, health and fitness industry, through the organisation of events
in schools, local councils, fitness centres, outdoor events and by promoting
standards in training and education of health and fitness professionals in Malta. Nestlé Fitness will in fact be the
official sponsor during such events organized by the Association.
The Malta Exercise Health and Fitness Association was officially
launched on Saturday 22nd March at the San Antonio Hotel in Bugibba by its President,
Gino Schiavone who introduced the Association and its objectives as well as all
the members of its Board. Mr Gino Schiavone who has many years of experience in
the industry is also a lecturer in sports, leisure and tourism and has
represented Malta in a number of international fora.
Gemma van Vuuren Cassar is the Vice-President and she is a
lecturer at University in the Physical education department. She is also highly
involved in research and development in the health and fitness field.
Mario Spiteri, public relations officer, has great
experience as he formerly occupied the Directorship of Health Promotion Unit in
the department of Health. He will be assisting the association in increasing
public awareness to make the Maltese public healthier by increasing exercise
activity.
Rosanne Galea, treasurer of the association will focus on EU
funded projects. She will work on sponsorships and increasing the network
activity with overseas partners.
Joe Camilleri is the secretary of the new council. Mr.
Camilleri is presently a spa manager and will work on leisure and increasing
spa activity in Malta.
The other council members include Karen Mugliette and
Stephanie Dalli. They will work on nutrition and the medical aspects of
exercise, health and fitness.
The association is also launching a new website; www.mehfa.eu –Tip Top being the official
website sponsors. Information about the activities of the association can be
obtained through the site. Mr. Schiavone also announced a programme of
activities for the forthcoming months and invited individuals involved in this
sector to come forward and to join the association as people were needed to
head working groups in the various sectors in which the association will be
involved. The association will operate from the premises of Future Focus at 8 Magazines Street, Floriana.
