The National Field Hockey League came to an end last
Saturday 17th May 2008, with the two matches played were White Hart vs Qormi and Young
Stars vs. Sliema.
In the first match Qormi got the better of White Hart with
two first half goals scored by Jonathan Borg when on both occasions he
concluded setups by Steve Tanti. White Hart did have their chances during the
second half but they just could not put the ball away.
With this win Qormi consolidated their position in the
runners up position; just one point behind the eventual winners Rabat Depiro.
In the second match YoungStars were held to a 2 – 2 draw by
the ever improving Sliema side.
It was the Floriana side that drew first blood through a
Penalty Stroke converted by Dave Evans, however within minutes Sliema leveled
the score through a well taken penalty stroke by Shaun Mifsud. Just before
lemon time Simon Baldacchino put the Sliema side ahead when he concluded a
counter attack with a thundering hit from just inside the shooting area.
In the second half Young Stars went all out and took
control, however they had to wait till the 51st minute to equalize
through Marvin Vella.

The Top Scorer was Shawn Falzon with 8 goals followed by
Luke Borg Costanzi with 7.
The next event to bring the season to an end will be the
Knock out competition. The games are will be played as

If the final ends in a draw after extra time a replay will
be held on Wednesday 4th
June 2008 at 19.00 hrs.
