Basketball: Malta starts with a win against Albania

The Basketball women's national team had a great start in the FIBA Europe Division C championship in Luxembourg with a 55-80 win against Albania.

The starting five for Malta were Loretta Ellul, Rebecca Brincat Thoresen, Doreen Micallef, Christina Grima and Josephine Grima. Rebecca Brincat Thoresen was the top scorer of the game with 34 points. The Maltese player who plays in the top division of the German League was also the top rebounder of the game with 5 rebounds.

Malta had a good start and won the first session 24-9. Albania tried to react however more points from Thoresen and Joselle Cardona made it 45-19 at half-time.  The third quarter was the closest one however Malta won it 22-19 as well. Albania managed to win only the last quarter 17-13 for a final score of Malta 80 Albania 55. Malta had a very positive shooting with a percentage of 52.3%.
