Kimberley Cassar has once again proved herself as one of the leading and most dedicated Junior
tennis players by reaching the Final of the International Ranking Tournament. Cassar has successfully participated in the
ITF Under 18 World Junior Ranking tournament held at the Marsa earlier this
year.
Kimberley was
the No 8 Seed for this tournament and managed to climb to the final beating the
No 4 Seed Grazzia Ripepi and No 1 Seed Sofia Zengou from Italy and
Greece
respectively. She has been training
regularly with the national squad and results so far speak for themselves.
The Final is scheduled for today, Friday at 4.00 pm and one hopes that a good
number of local tennis followers, particularly juniors with tennis at heart,
will turn up at the Club to offer their enthusiastic support when she meets No
5 Seed Stefania Gattuso from Italy.
Kim reached also the final of the girl’s doubles
together her partner Janine Ruhstaller from Sweden.
Tennis Club Kordin was a hive of activity over
this week with a large number of players taking part in this year’s Tennis
Europe 16U Junior Ranking Tournament.
In spite of the many problems created by the local transport situation,
all matches were played according to schedule.
The tournament is being Organised by Tennis Club Kordin in collaboration
with the Malta Tennis Federation.
The Tournament is being sponsored as always by Simonds Farsons Cisk p.l.c. through their product San
Michel Table Water without whose continuous support it would have been very
difficult to organize this tournament.
