Cricket: Marsa play against Ladymead C.C.

Over the weekend the Marsa C.C played two games against
returning touring team Ladymead C.C.
On Saturday Marsa won the toss and elected to bat first. The
Marsa batsmen put on a display which was amazing. Five batsmen batted and the
lowest score was twenty runs made by Joy Ghoseroy. Next score was last weeks
centurion Nowell Khosla who was well on his way to another before he was run
out in an unfortunate manner. He made forty runs. Chris Naudi batted well and
scored fifty seven runs including seven fours. Andy Lenard just managed to
score fifty runs not out. His fiftieth run coming off the last ball of the
innings, he scored three fours and a six.
Andy Naudi was the centurion this weekend scoring 102 runs not out including
fourteen fours. Marsa aided with seven extras managed too score an impressive
276 runs of the allotted forty overs. For the visitors Mackay and Shambrook
were the only wicket takers with one a each.
In reply Ladymead were well in the run chase with Will Gooda
and Craven at the crease. Gooda scored seventy three runs including four fours
and a six before being stumped magnificently by the keeper John Grima. Craven
made fifty two runs including seven fours before being caught. Once the Marsa
bowlers took these wickets the pressure was on the visitors batsmen too make
quick runs which ended up in cheap wickets for the locals. Ladymead ended all
out for 161 runs. Andy lenard capped of his fifty runs with three wickets while
Kevin Krishna took two. Marsa go one up in the series.
On Sunday Marsa won the toss again and this time decided to
bowl first in a thirty five over game. Ladymead totaled 138 runs with Will
Gooda top scoring with forty two runs, Peny scored twenty eight runs not out
and McDonald twenty one runs. For Marsa the main wicket takers were Nadeem
Ashraf and Sarfraz Ali with two wickets each.
The Marsa team made the runs in the twenty sixth over but
lost six wickets in the process. Great bowling by Mackay who took four wickets
kept his side in the game. For Marsa Javed Shah top scored with forty four runs
and Andy Naudi made thirty runs not out. Marsa win the series two to nil.
Next weekend Marsa take on new touring team brought by
Globalair, Wiseton C.C in a two game series. The nursery/academy will be from
9:30CET till 11:30CET.
