Chris Stahl has won the gold medal in the European Masters Games (EMG) 2008 in the Swedish city of Malmö in the over-65 squash category.
Stahl
– who plays his squash at the Marsa Sports Club – remained unbeaten in
all his matches to be crowned European Masters Squash Champion 2008 and
bring the gold medal back to Malta.
At the EMG 2008 more than 10,000 people from almost 50 nations took part in 28 different events during 10 days of competition.
The European Masters Games
benefit from the patronage of the International Masters Games
Association (IMGA), which is recognised by the International Olympic
Committee, and which, through the European Masters Sports Association,
embody the Olympic ideal that sport is a human right for people of all
ages regardless of race, social class, gender and economic circumstance.
The term 'master' is an age designation and does not denote a level
of sports proficiency or a particular sports achievement. The European
Masters Games, take place every four years, are open to everyone.
The next EMG will be held in 2011 in Lignano, Italy
