Electronics Inc has prospects relocate its Scotland operations to Malta
and expand its operations in the island said the company’s Senior Vice President Tom Reynolds in a meeting with
Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology (IT) Austin Gatt
on Thursday.
The creation of
further employment, the transfer of research and development to Malta as well
as the capabilities of Maltese workers were also discussed during the meeting
as the Minister visited the company’s premises in Mrieħel.
Mr. Reynolds praised
the capabilities of Maltese workers which were “instrumental” for the company to increase the number of its
employees from 250 in 1997 to 700 today.
The company, operating
in a globalised market makes vehicle components and had 19 plants in nine
countries, employing 3,200 people.
