For the first time ever, Microsoft Corporation is inviting Maltese students to participate in an International Internship Program and potentially join the multination Corporation.

"We believe this is a great opportunity for the University of Malta IT students. The selected candidates will learn from a team of professional people and potentially be chosen to pursue a career at Microsoft," said Mr Pierre Mallia, Microsoft Malta Ltd, Country Manager.

The Microsoft Corporation International Internship Program is designed for university students who are currently reading a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. Students graduating within the 07/08 scholastic year are not eligible.

This is a unique opportunity for young undergraduates to experience the workings of a leading global technology company from a software design engineering and developing perspective.  Microsoft will be hiring interns to work as Software Design Engineers (SDEs) and Software Design Engineers in Test (SDETs).

The Software Design Engineers (SDEs) will be responsible for the developing of next-generation applications, operating systems, and tools. They will be asked to write code, construct data structures and algorithms, and work closely with Program Managers to define and prioritise features.

The Software Design Engineers in Test (SDETs) will be responsible for the writing of code, automated testing tool suites and also developer tools. With an eye for detail, the SDETs will also target specific coding problems and develop solutions to rectify them.

Applicants will be competing with international students from all over the world for a limited number of internships. Interested students should register for this internship through the Faculty of ICT of the University of Malta.
