Inaki Berroeta, Vodafone Malta
Limited’s Chief Executive Officer announced that during the coming days the
company’s customer base will be reaching the 200,000 mark. He was speaking to
journalists during Vodafone’s traditional Christmas Lunch.
“We are delighted to celebrate
200,000 customers, further establishing ourselves as the leaders in mobile
communication in the local market. We are celebrating together with our
customers by launching a series of campaigns giving added value to our existing
subscribers as well as rewarding new customers who join our network. Our
various offers include free credit, reduced call rates, a fantastic range of
mobile phones starting from as little as Lm16 / €37.27, as well as offers
including free phones.”
Mr Berroeta also highlighted
Vodafone’s achievements for 2007,
“Earlier this year we launched WiMAX, and we now have
all of
Malta
and Gozo covered with this service which provides our customers with fixed line
telephony and internet. We have also extended our 3G and HSDPA coverage,
providing both indoor and outdoor coverage, and we expect to have full coverage
by the second quarter of 2008, ensuring our customers have access to the latest
technology both at home and in the office as well as outside.”
In line with its Corporate
Responsibility commitment, Vodafone is also promoting handset recycling this
Christmas, giving customers Lm1 / €2.33 off the Vodafone 225 handset when they
hand in their old mobile phone. This Christmas Vodafone is also supporting the
Association for Abandoned Animals. Calendars featuring dogs at the AAA
sanctuary together with some of
Malta’s
most popular and most loved personalities will be available for sale from
Vodafone Retail Outlets at Lm2 / €4.66. All proceeds from the calendars will be
donated to AAA.
“2007 was also a big year for our
Music Jam Club. Through our associations with
Malta’s
leading artists, as well as our involvement in major concerts which took place
in
Malta
this year, we offered our customers exclusive access to top musical events. The
success of the Music Jam Club has ensured that we will do our best to continue
offering more exclusive opportunities next year.”
2008 promises to be another exciting
year for Vodafone. With the advent of MVNO’s and more developments in
technology, Vodafone promises to bring more value to its customers.
“In 2008 we are committed to further enhance our position as
Malta’s
leading mobile network by continuing to be at the forefront with the launch of
new technologies which benefit our customers and enhance their quality of
life,” concluded Mr Berroeta
