Over 750 Maltese people have pledged to download Firefox 3, the new version of the popular web server, in a bid to break a world downloading record on Tuesday.

They are today joining forces with over a million and a half people all around the world in an attempt to break the world record for Most Software Downloaded in 24 Hours, an initiative of the giant software company Mozilla, to be recorded in the Guiness Book of Records.

On June 17th, Mozilla is also launching its latest version of the popular web browser Firefox, called Firefox 3.  Mozilla is claiming over 15,000 new updates for this version which has been under development for almost 3 years.

The new version is available for download in over 45 languages which, unfortunately, do not include Maltese. Mozilla claims that Firefox 3 is more secure, easier to use and that if offers an improved platform for developers. Moreover, it promises better performance which translates in enhanced speed, more efficient memory use and better reliability.
