Pilgrims travelling to Rome, Italy for the canonisation of Dun Ġorġ Preca
have been advised to make sure they hold a valid Government identity card (ID) or
passport. In a statement on Friday, Air Malta said security personnel will
be very stringent on the matter and passengers with expired ID
cards will not be allowed to travel.
Between
31st
May and 5th June Air Malta is operating a total of 67 flights to the
Italian Capital. 30 flights are regular scheduled services, 33
flights have been organised together with local tour operators while a
further four have been organised by the airline to meet increased
demand.
The airline estimates
that around 4,500 passengers will be travelling on its services for the canonisation ceremony.
