The park and ride extension  in Blata l-Bajda, providing an additional 300 parking spaces, opened to commuters on Wednesday.

Through the extension, the number of parking spaces at the site increased from 950 to 1,250.  A total of Lm500,000 has been spent on the complete park and ride project, which opened last year.

Transport to and from the extended zone of the park and ride is being operated by the Association for Public Transport through the 198 route, mainly catering for tourists who stop at the Cruise-liner Passenger Terminal and Floriana residents. The fare is of Lm0.15.

The route passes through the Passenger Terminal, heads up the Crucifix Hill and continues through St Anne Road before arriving back at the park and ride area. The service will complement existing shuttles services.

The service operates every ten minutes from 0830CEST and 1100CEST and from 1600CEST to 1800CEST and every fifteen minutes in the remaining hours, up until 2000CEST.
