Spanish low-cost airline Vueling will start operating to and from Malta as from the 31st March 2008, the Government announced. The airline will be flying to the Malta International Airport three times a week from Madrid.

This new service is expected to increase Spanish tourism towards Malta.

Barcelona-based Vueling was set up in 2004 and boasts of a fleet of 24 airplanes.

The airline operates on 57 different routes with 150 flights per day. Vueling carried 495,860 passengers during November 2007, 74.8% more than in the same period last year.
