The 15th edition of Air Malta’s International Travel Exhibition (AMITEX) 2008 which was held during the last weekend of April at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali, attracted over 15,000 visitors.

The travel fair saw the participation of several local and foreign exhibitors who over the four days of the fair presented travel opportunities for next summer to the Maltese public.

During AMITEX Air Malta’s Chairman, Mr Lawrence Zammit, Chief Executive Officer, Mr Joe Cappello and Chief Officer Commercial, Dr Brock Friesen together with other Air Malta senior officials toured the stands and exchanged views with the local and foreign travel exhibitors as well as the general public.

Commenting on this year’s AMITEX, Brian Bartolo, Air Malta’s General Manager Marketing & Product said, “AMITEX has once again been a success.  In terms of attendance our forecasts have been reached.  Our latest special offer included the sale of 35,000 seats starting at Euro 67 (which includes taxes and charges) to 26 destinations, our Summer Schedule and Flyaway Tours have been well received by the public. Moreover the exhibitors have expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the new venue and were pleased with the amount of bookings received.”

“We wish to thank the public who supported this event as well as our partners who exhibited and placed their trust in AMITEX.  The organisation of AMITEX is yet another demonstration of Air Malta’s commitment to the local tourism industry and our Maltese community,” concluded Mr Bartolo.
