No Maltese air passengers hurt in Sofia blasts

No passengers were hurt or in danger on Air Malta’s flight KM 785 (Sofia – Malta) of Thursday after a number of blasts rocked the area close to the airport in Sofia.

The flight will now be delayed by over 9 hours, according to a statement by Air Malta.

Air Malta passengers were on board the aircraft on the ground at Sofia airport when the blasts occurred, however at no point in time were they or the aircraft in any danger. As a precautionary measure the passengers were disembarked, given refreshments and meals. 

Sofia Airport is currently closed. Air Malta’s return flight to Malta will be departing as soon a Sofia’s airport commences operations.
