On
Friday morning Dr Mario De Marco, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, met the
90 students who were first-hand witnesses to an act of aggression against their
coach driver 2 days ago. He was accompanied by the Chairman and CEO of the
Malta Tourism Authority, Sam Mifsud and Josef Formosa Gauci respectively.
The
Italian and Romanian students, who attend the STS language school, were on board two coaches entering St Dorothy's School to start their lessons,
when a mini bus blocked their entrance to the school grounds. Some of those who
were on strike, assaulted the driver of the first coach and boarded it to the
shock and dismay of the people present.
Dr Mario
De Marco apologised for the incident and for the inconvenience caused. He told the students that they were sure to experience the
excellent Maltese hospitality during the remaining days of their stay and that
they should continue enjoying their visit and Malta's beaches, entertainment
and culture.
At the end
of the visit the students were presented with complimentary bags containing
various gifts and mementoes to serve as better reminders of their stay in
Malta.
