blame it on the children
from From The Land of Mickey by Fabrizio Ellul
Sep 01, 2008 - 06:14:27 PM CET

The payment of children’s allowances to every family in January, which the government had not forked out in 2007, was one of the reasons for the widening of the financial deficit by 36 per cent in the first seven months over the same period last year, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said yesterday.

… if it is not the oil, then it must be the children; bastards! - the same children that were pasted on large billboards on your way to PV.

A Special Evening
from La delirante: A Salvadoran living in Malta. by La delirante
Sep 01, 2008 - 05:36:55 PM CET

Yesterday afternoon Red and I decided to take a walk from Ta'Xbiex to St. Julian's. We wanted to have a look at the last feast of Summer in the area and we wanted to try this gorgeous restaurant.

It had been such a long time since Red and I had enjoyed a restaurant experience so much. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, I loved the design, the furniture and the colours (though too modern for my taste), the dessert was like heaven, the music was appropriate and I let my hair down and enjoyed the whole experience.

A little sister with a large heart
from WIRED MALTA (formerly known as Wired Temples) by Robert Micallef
Sep 01, 2008 - 03:57:19 PM CET

Gozo lives in Malta’s shadow but has plenty of its own visual and culinary pleasures to delight the discerning traveller, writes Louise Roddon in The Telegraph: Secluded bays, bracing walks and charming restaurants are what Gozo does best. And it’s all set in a wild terrain that nonsense poet Edward Lear found so magnificent he pronounced it “pomskizillious and gromphiberous”.

Il-Passaġġi għar-Roti
from il-manoċċa by il-manoċċa
Sep 01, 2008 - 11:37:29 AM CET

Jekk tosserva l-passaġġi tar-roti - jew il-linji miżbugħa ma' l-art biex iservu ta' mogħdija għal dawk li jkunu qed isuqu r-roti - jaqbdek id-daħq, jew il-biki. Ma nistax nifhem passaġġ li jwasslek minn imkien għal imkien. Passaġġ li jieqaf ħesrem u mingħajr twissija tispiċċa ma' rawndebawt - propju fejn l-aktar ikollok bżonn passaġġ biex jipproteġik mit-traffiku.
