As the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) meeting in Malta drew to an end on Sunday, Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Frendo reiterated the need for solutions to the Middle East conflict.

Speaking during the meeting, the Minister called for stronger relations between the United States of American and the European Union to find solutions to the Middle East crisis. Minister Michael Frendo added that there is a need for heightened dialogue where the Middle East crisis is concerned.

While in discussions with Suleiman Shahoumi, Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Popular Libyan Congress, earlier on Sunday, the theme of illegal immigration was tackled, with the Minister stating that an agreement is to be sought with regards to the repatriation. Discussions also focused upon the participation of Libya and international organizations, energy and culture.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anton Tabone also addressed the conference saying that extremism, terrorism, drugs and organized crime are destroying society’s foundations. The Speaker also called for heightened consultation vis-ŕ-vis the illegal immigration problems Malta is facing.
