The councillors section of the Malta Labour Party has called on the Local Councils Association to hold new elections so that the Association’s representation will reflect the absolute majority that the Labour Party has following the Local Council Election results.
In a press release, the MLP section explained that the Association could not continue to operate with four members representing the Nationalist Party, while only two represent the MLP. It added that the Association funtions thanks to funds given by all Local Councils.
The Labour Party now has 37 mayors out of 68 Local Councils. In the Local Council Elections, the MLP has won for the first time the majority in Pieta’, Msida and San Gwann, while it gained back the majority in Mtarfa.
