On Sunday afternoon, the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) rescued 23 irregular immigrants on board a stranded boat some 59 nautical miles South of Malta.

This is the second boat of irregular immigrants to be rescued by AFM in the past few hours.

The irregular immigrants were taken to Haywharf on board an AFM Patrol Boat early this afternoon. The irregular immigrants were handed over to the Immigration Police who will be conducting further investigations.
