AFM rescue another 25 illegal immigrants

The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) rescued 25 illegal immigrants who were seen adrift in a boat approximately 25 nautical miles south east of Malta on Wednesday.

The boat was reported by a fishing vessel at around 1000 CET.

The AFM dispatched a helicopter and two boats and the 25 migrants were taken aboard the Rescue Launch M2. The rescue operation terminated at 1500 CET.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a Tunisian man was arraigned in court with having driven a boat that was carrying 23 illegal immigrants.

The illegal immigrants were brought to Malta on Sunday with the assistance of the AFM.

In 2005, the same man had been deported from Malta for entered Malta illegally.
