The Customs department intercepted a container that was on its way to Mexico from the Far East after it was found loaded with fake Adidas World Cup footballs.

Suspicions arose when the customs’ monitoring unit noticed that there might have been discrepancies between the cargo declared and that in the container.

This is the second batch of contraband merchandise relating to the World Cup that has been intercepted by Maltese Customs over the past few weeks. The previous haul had also departed from the Far East.
