Young girl dies after fall; man dies in field fire

A two and a half year-old girl died tragically after falling from a height of three storeys into a shaft. The accident occurred at a residence in Marsascala on Thursday evening at around 20:00CET.

Also on Thursday evening, at around 2100CET, a 71-year-old man from Rabat was found dead in a field in the area known as Ta' Santa Lucija, Mtarfa.


The two and a half-year-old girl was given first aid after the fall. She was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and was certified to in a critical condition and died some time later.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations on the dead corpse of the man from Rabat revealed burn marks on his feet. Also, several parts of the field had been burnt. An autopsy is to be carried out on the man’s corpse to determine the causes of the man's death.

Duty Magistrate Dr. Abigail Lofaro was informed of both cases and several experts were appointed to assist in the inquiries. The Police are investigating.
