Italian tour leader saves coach passengers

An Italian tour leader saved the lives of a coach full of persons when the 51-year-old coach driver fainted and lost control of the vehicle. The coach was on its way from Sliema to the Malta International Airport. The accident occurred at around 14:00CET.

The coach driver died on location.

The tour leader realised that the coach driver was in difficulty and tried to control and stop the vehicle. Consequently, the coach hit an electricity pole and managed to arrive at a halt a few metres from a petrol station.

The paramedics’ team which arrived on location certified the coach driver dead.

Police investigations are under way.
