Lm10,000 stolen in supermarket hold-up

Around Lm 10,000 ($29,000, € 23,300) were stolen from a supermarket in Sliema. The money was stolen from Tower Supermarket, in Main Street. A 21-year-old female employee was emerging from the supermarket carrying a with a bag full of money in a trolley when two armed and hooded robbers ordered her to hand over the bag.

After the theft, the two robbers fled in a van which was found at the end of the road. It is likely that the thieves continued their journey either or foot or in another vehicle.

The incident took place around 1030CEST on Wednesday.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera ordered an inquiry and appointed various experts to assist her.

Closed circuit television footage is being analyzed as part of ongoing police investigations.
