The incident took place at around 1130CEST, just five minutes into the diving session.

The tragedy unfolded before the eyes of the 58-year-old man's wife who is also mother of the 16-year-old boy. The woman attempted to assist the men as soon as they found themselves in difficulty.

The man was given first aid treatment on location before being rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital by ambulance, where his health condition was certified to be critical.

Police are investigating both incidents.
