31 illegal immigrants reach Għar Lapsi Bay

Another group of 31 illegal immigrants reached Maltese shores on Sunday night after landing in Għar Lapsi Bay.

The group comprised of 28 men, 2 women and an infant. The illegal immigrants reached the shore at around 2140CEST, hours after another group of 30 landed in Mġarr, Gozo at 0300CEST.

Police investigations are underway.

In turn, two vessels laden with illegal immigrants capsized off the coast of Lampedusa over the weekend, leaving behind at least 15 victims altogether.

So far this year 1,268 illegal immigrants have reached Maltese shores.
