Missing 78-year-old man found dead

78-year-old Salvatore Xuereb, who was reported missing by Police on Thursday has been found dead in Wied Għollieq, near San Ġwann. Police and Members of the Civil Protection Department launched extensive searches for the St. Julian’s resident.

The searches were carried out in various parts of Malta, after Police were informed on Wednesday that the elderly man had caught a bus from near the University of Malta.

Searches for the man were underway on Monday afternoon when the man's lifeless body was discovered.

Duty Magistrate Joe Cassar appointed various experts to assist him in an inquiry.

An autopsy is expected to be carried on Tuesday.
