Young man loses life in traffic accident

A 25-year-old man from Għaxaq lost his life in a car crash on Monday night. The youth was driving in the direction of Tarxien when his car hit a central strip and crashed into two vehicles, a car and a van respectively, on the other side of the road.

The incident took place in Tal-Barrani Road, Zejtun. The youth died in an ambulance while being taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.

The driver and the passenger riding in the other car were also taken to hospital. The 52-year-old male driver received treatment for light injuries, while the 45-year-old female passenger was treated for a broken arm. The 25-year-old van driver involved in the collision was not injured.

An autopsy is expected to be carried out on the youth’s body on Tuesday.

Duty Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna appointed various experts to assist him in an inquiry.

Police investigations continue.

In a separate case, another man died after being on danger list for a week. The 38-year-old man has sustained grievous injuries after falling a height of one storey on a construction site in Qrendi.

He had been rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and found to be in imminent danger of losing his life. He sadly succumbed to the injuries he suffered during the fall on Tuesday.
