The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) brought in a group of 28 illegal immigrants on Saturday at Wied il-Buni, Birzebbuga.

The group, consisting of 27 men and a woman, were intercepted just outside Għar Lapsi. The AFM dispatched an aircraft and patrol craft to rescue the group.

The illegal immigrants were handed over to the police for further investigation.

This is the second group of illegal immigrants to arrive in Malta in two days.
