After Thursday’s thunderstorm, the Maltese Islands were hit by heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon.

StormOn Thursday, Mark Vella Gera from MaltaWeather warned that further bad weather was to be expected on Friday.

The Civil Protection Department (CPD) has dispatched some of its members to assist persons trapped in their vehicles in Msida and Birkirkara, however no major incidents have been reported.

The CPD also said that despite the heavy rainfall there is no serious flooding in the Msida area, which is renown for its floods.

Drivers are called on to exert caution when traveling in such weather conditions.
